Salute From The Shore V

The restored C-47 in the video below is owned and flown by former SC Aeronautics Commissioner Barry G. Avent. It was one of the C-47s involved in operation Market Garden during the WWII invasion of Europe. More recently it was used to fly a group of Columbia “Airborne Veterans” on a day trip to the Airborne School at Fort Benning, GA, courtesy of Commissioner Avent. Barry’s Dad, Henry E. Avent, was a “Flying Tiger” Veteran of WWII, flying C-47s OVER THE HUMP.
Major Moffatt Burriss is a WWII 82nd Airborne Veteran with 2 combat jumps, author of “Strike and Hold”, and a former SC State Legislator.
